Les grues passent la nuit le long ou sur le lac puis elles s'envolent pour se restaurer dans les champs; Elles reviennent peu de temps avant le coucher du soleil. @Ruth : The cranes spend the night together around the lake and they take off in the morning between 8 and 9 to split and eat in the fields some kilometers away. They come back to our lake or a bigger one (lac du Der) just before the sunset.

Were they eating or picking at a dead fish?
I think they were eating the dead fish. We often see big carpus fishbones along the lake.
I don't see any rues. :) You tuck them discreetly away. Aren't we lucky to live in the country?
