Pivoines (peonies)

P pour "pivoines", P for peonies.

Those words have the same origin paion in Greek for Apollo, peonia, peonie, pione in Middle English.
The added v in French is the result of an epenthesis as the insertion of a sound in the middle of a word thunder in Midle English from Old English thunor (tonnerre in French).

Those look exactly like the peonies that grew in my grandmother's garden when I was a child. Thank you. You've brought back some lovely sunny memories.
Thank you also for participating this week.
